We continued learning how to identify organisms through using a dichotomous key. Today they turned in a worksheet where they identified a species of Norns. After that the students worked to create their own dichotomous keys when given an set of organisms. We will continue to work on this next week.

Students learned about dichotomous keys and how they can be used to identify what a specific organism is including its genus and species. We practiced using this information by identifying smileys.
We will have a quiz on the vocabulary words on Friday.
This week, we have been working to finish up some ongoing assignments. Students worked to finish the six foldables on the kingdoms of living things, the reading guide for 7.3 (Classification of Living things), 10.2 (Plants are producers), & 10.4 (Fungi are decomposers) Today we created a review chart of all the kingdoms to compare them. Our bellringer today looked at applying what they have learned to a new situation. We will be doing some more practice this week and will test next week on the kingdoms of living things. Students watched a second portion of the Life video series on Plants. It highlighted the Venus fly trap that students have been asking about . Through the video we also saw how plants move and survive in many different environments
Students worked on getting more detailed information about Plants and Fungi. We have been incorporating our vocabulary words from last week. We will continue to compare the six different kingdoms of living things and how they are similar and different from each other.
We set up our six foldables that we will use to learn about the six different kingdoms of living things. We will work on these for several days using the vocabulary words that we learned yesterday. We worked on Eubacteria, Archaeabacteria and Protists over these two days.
Students learned some words today that will guide them through our study of the six kingdoms of living things. We reviewed in our bellringer that the three domains, above kingdoms, of all living things are Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya.
We also practiced using the readings to come up with a definition for the vocabulary using context clues to identify the true meaning. I do apologize for the absence as the website was going through some updates and because of a glitch I could not make any edits to pages other than the home page. To catch up
