Today we began our graphing portion of science skills. We reviewed what makes up both a bar and line graph. They practiced identifying what type of graph to use in different scenarios. Lastly, we went over the 8 steps to creating a graph. As a reminder all graded graphs will use the following: Total out of 10 pts Title -2pts y-axis title- 1pt y-axis unit- 1pt y-axis scale-1pt x-axis title- 1pt x-axis unit- 1pt x-axis scale-1pt data points/line/bars- 2pts | SN 16 Parts of a Bar Graph SN 17 Parts of a Line Graph SN 18 Choosing what Type of Graph to Use SN 19 Steps to Create a Graph SN 20 Graphing Practice |

We finished up going over the measurement and conversion practice. I am adding some websites to practice if you need some extra help with conversion. We also went over lab equipment that we will be using through out the year. I look forward to many labs through out the year.
We reviewed the different variables and how to find them. Students worked in groups to complete a Sponge Bob Variable sheet. As a reminder the Friday Five quiz this week will be on the Scientific Method and variables.
We finished up the penny lab today by creating a graph and a conclusion. We also practiced the steps of the scientific method in an experimental scenario and began to talk about variables. The Friday Five this week will be on the scientific method and variables.
Today we worked on the penny lab. Many students have already completed this lab where they see how many drops of water will fit on a penny in elementary school. We took the lab one step further and tested how many drops would fit on a penny covered in dish detergent. Before beginning the lab, each student made an etching of their penny and listed 5 observations to practice our good scientific observations. Some classes need to finish up on Monday
